In this article, you will learn how to paint your nails like a pro.
Painting your fingernails has to be one of the easiest ways to amp up your style. Be it gel-shine, chin matte, glitter or glossy, colouring them can improve your style quotient two-folds. Manicurists are known to make your nails look their best, but you no longer need to spend all that precious time visiting salons when you can get awesome looking nails by following a couple of quick nail painting tips. Follow our 5 tips to paint your nails like a pro.
You need three strokes
The first tip on how to paint your nails like a pro is to use three strokes while applying nail paint. As you go on applying the polish on your nails – instead of applying a lumpy coat of polish, apply a single coat to the left, to the right and then down the center. This same process should ideally be in 3 strokes and this way you’ll avoid dents and smudges, and have a neatly done job!
Always use base coat
It might take you a few extra minutes, but make sure to always use a clear base coat first, it helps to protect your nails from turning yellow on excessive use of nail polish. It also serves your brittle nails and gives your nail polish an extra base to adhere to, making your nail paint to last longer. SO, use a base coat to prevent staining on your nails from paint and also have a finished look.
Swipe on some cuticle oil
Cherish that ‘just out of salon freshly manicured nails’ with cuticle oil. It’s an instant way to hydrate your nails and keep them protected. Apply it over your fingertips once you are done painting them. You can also apply cuticle oil at night and massage gently over your fingers to provide them a much-needed nourishment. What’s more? If you accidentally hit your freshly painted nails against something, the oil offers some slip, so they’re less likely to get spoiled.
Never shake your nail polish
Don’t shake the nail polish container. Instead, roll the nail polish bottle between your hands, back and forth by holding the polish vertically, to mix the content of the paint together. This will ensure that there are no air bubbles in the lacquer which often makes the application, a challenge.

Hold your hands under cold water
Once you’re done with your manicure at home, wait for them to be halfway dry and then hold your hands on a cold running water tap. You can also dip your fingertips in a bowl of cold, icy water for a bit. This way helps the nail paint to dry faster.
Always use a top coat
The last tip is probably the most sort after. After your nails are dry, apply a top coat and always swipe the very tip of your nail. This way, when you are typing or using your fingertips against anything, you are less likely to get chipped.
